Die Bundeswehr provides the most High-Ranking Military Adviser for UNAMA

From mid-July, Brigadegeneral Kay Brinkmann has been appointed the  highest ranking Military Advisor for UN mission in Afghanistan UNAMA. This is the first time that Germany takes the Military Leadership of UNAMA mission, although die Bundeswehr has been part of UNAMA since 2005.

The “Military Advisory Unit” is comprehensively used in Regional offices across Afghanistan including Mazar-e Sharif, Jalabad, Kabul, Kandahar and Herat.
And the focus of its Operation is mainly on:
• Information and assessments on the progress of the Afghan Armed Forces
• The International Military presence                                                                                                            • And the outcome of their works in partnership with the UNAMA mission. This includes, inter alia, Political, Military, Human Rights Civil Society and the Security.  Described by die Bundeswehr

The UNAMA and its mandate:                                                                                                                            With the 1500 employees, the UNAMA is the United Nations Assistance (political) missions in Afghanistan.                                                                                                                                                   From the beginning of January 2015, the UNAMA will multiply its works to support the government in Kabul, help to facilitate the work of other International aid agencies and simultaneously will act as the coordinator to maintain contact with neighboring States for Peace and Security.
