Die Bundeswehr in response to recent Iraq crisis

With the presence of the Federal Minister of Defence Dr. Ursula von der Leyen  die Bundeswehr has commenced the Humanitarian Relief Operation for the north of  Iraq


The first Humanitarian aid delivery has started from August 15, with 36 tones of nutrition, medical supplies, blankets and other necessary materials for living, from die Bundeswehr’s Base in Schleswig-Holstein  to north of Iraq.                                                                                                                                                         The Bundeswehr is in command of this Humanitarian Relief Operation. And it will add additional measures as the real-situation may require.

Earlier to this aid delivery, the Foreign office has  announced the financial aid of €24.4 million for the recent humanitarian crisis in north of Iraq. The Federal Government of Germany, is simultaneously working with the United Nations and other International organizations to help and assist the displaced people in the areas.
